Job Summary:     
The Wildland Hand Crew Firefighterunder direct supervision, duties involve fieldwork requiring physical performance calling for above-average endurance and superior conditioning. These duties may include an occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time. Requirements include running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting more than 50 pounds; the pace of work typically is set by the emergency situation.  

 

Responsibilities:    

  • Duties involve fieldwork requiring physical performance calling for above-average endurance and superior conditioning.

  • Duties may include an occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time.   

  • Work effectively and safely during unavoidable exposure to an unpleasant environment with exposure to potentially heavy and somewhat unpredictable hazards.  

  • Follow verbal and written instruction.  

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.  

  • Think and act quickly and competently in emergencies and under stress  

    

Minimum Required Qualifications:     

  • 18 years old.    

  • Physical Agility Test  

  • Successful background and drug screening  

 

Minimum Experience/Training:   

 

Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) 

  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher  

  • S-131, Firefighter Type 1  

  • Completion and Certification of NWCG Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) Position Task Book  

Advanced Faller (FAL1) 

  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher  

  • S-212, Wildland Fire Chain Saws  

  • Completion and Certification of NWCG Advanced Faller (FAL1) Position Task Book  

Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) 

  • Basic Firefighter Training:  

  • ICS-100, Introduction to ICS  

  • L-180, Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service  

  • S-130, Firefighter Training  

  • S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior  

  • IS-700, NIMS: An Introduction  

  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher*  

*Annual Fireline Safety Refresher (RT-130) is not required for the first year as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2); however, it is required for subsequent years.  

Intermediate Faller (FAL2) 

  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher  

  • S-212, Wildland Fire Chain Saws  

  • Completion and Certification of NWCG Intermediate Faller (FAL2) Position Task Book  

Basic Faller (FAL3) 

  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher
